I am starting a small business and need a website. (I will not be selling products.) I need a place for people to come and get more info about me and my services. Can anyone recommend the best places & cheapest places to get this service? I have no knowledge of html.

Thanks!

There are many ways to monetize your business website. Providing information about your services is great. You don't need to have knowledge of html to build your own site. There are a few great web hosts that will assist you through the process. The fun part is that you find yourself actually learning html along the process. I would suggest that you take a look at several web hosts and the features/options that the provide. Narrow the list to the ones that fit your needs. Then compare pricing and you will find the best fit and get the most for your money. I went through that process and have been more than pleased with my decision. You can take a look at my web host as one of your options. http://www.tobuildyour.com

Hi,

When choosing a web host it's of course important to consider the cost (some hosting can be very expensive) but here are some other important things you should take into consideration too:

Web Hosting Space: Some web hosts will only give you 500MB or so of space. This could be a concern if you are looking at creating large websites.

Bandwidth: Some web hosts will severely limit the bandwidth you can use before you incur extra charges.

Uptime: There's no point in having a website if people can't see it. Does your web host offer at least a 99% uptime guarantee?

Number of websites allowed: If you're looking to host more than one website on your account, will your web host charge you more to do this?

Support: If you have any problems you need to be able to contact your web host quickly and easily to get the problem sorted.

I have used Hostgator as my web host for over two years now and have been very very impressed with them. Firstly they're very cheap but still give me more web hosting space and bandwidth than I'll ever need, the ability to host unlimited websites, a 99.9% uptime guarantee and great customer support. You can find them at http://www.webhostgator.info

oh, I love my web hosting company! I too don't know any html and yet I've been given the tools to create a web site that has been place # 1 on msn in 4 months. I know personally of people such as realtor's, dentists etc who have a web site about heir services and it has doubled their client base.

The web host company is called Site Build It! It runs around 25 dollars a month. Well, you can read mine and other success stories via my web page. You can check out my listing at msn.com type in Easy Diabetic Recipes and see what comes up!

Personally, I would recommend http://silkhosting.net

No html knowledge needed. No prior experience needed. Web space and bandwidth will a lot more than you need. Even the larges small business sites will take less than 100mb of space and less than 500mb of disk space so that shouldn't be a problem.

I created my site there with their very easy to use sitebuilder. They have a lot of free templates (over 200), see their site for examples, that will help you get started. They also have video tutorials on their sitebuilder and control panel which came in handy.
