Where are some good places to promote my debut album?

I am a solo Instrumental/Electronic artist that has released his first album for sale to retailers like Amazon and iTunes. I am wondering where some good places, online and off, to advertise and promote my music are. Advice from anybody with experience and/or knowledge of getting your music off the ground would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Check out the Thirty Day Challenge, a free marketing course run by a couple of real internet millionaires. Doesn't cost you a dime. In the launch video Ed highlighted how successful the challenge had been in previous years "for musicians, artists, painters and photographers".



This years challenge starts today. The forum is a great place to make friends and it's a real buzz. Ed is a music aficionado. Last year he chose a site about vintage guitars as his worked example...



A lot of the marketing techniques that he teaches involve the use of facebook and other mediums that allow a viral effect which is one of the reasons that musicians do so well with it.

Try putting snippets of your music for sale at places that offer background music, promotional music, and other royalty free places. You get a sale and credit for the music and it is short snippets, but people hear your music.



Also get on internet/blog radio shows and showcase yourself and new album to get publicity.



Send out a press release, and maybe get a publicist.

Get as many friends as you can in there.
