Question:
eBay - Is it honest?

Received an email from eBay saying certain (5) items were ending soon (I had them on "Watch"). All the items in the email showed "Current bid" amounts.
Checked the items, as unusually none showed any bids at all a few hours earlier ... NO "bids" have been made on any of them.

So is that honest or just downright misleading or what? Could there be
another reason for the email showing bids on items ... when there are none?

There are good users and there are cheats...........same as here, on Yahoo-

I have bought many pieces of Swarovski off Ebay, but only deal with the professional sellers with Power seller ratings.

The scammers will have less then a 100% feedback, with many , many neutrals and negatives for feedback.

Always check their feedback to see what their customers say about them,.

There are a few who are notorious rip-off artists. In my world, (collecting Swarovski Crystal) there's a guy named BILL from Arizona....who's a straight up rip off artist. He's burned a lot of people. ....and he's well known as a rip off artist.

As for last second bids.........most of the pro's play that game. there's no point bidding in 5 days in advance........because some idiot will just "snipe" you in the last 30 seconds of the auction, not giving you time to up your bid.

often auctions will get 5 or 6 quick bids in the closing seconds of the auction.

Also, many sellers use other accounts and try to bid you up...........but when they go too high and get stuck with their own item,..........they send you a note saying the high bidder backed out, and you can still have it for your *last* bid.

F*** that. Most of the bids were probably from the seller themselves, trying to jerk you up in price.

Offer your FIRST bid......before you were FALSELY jacked up. Not the LAST bid.

I think so. The important thing is to only do business with sellers who have positive feedbacks in the 97-100% range. Not only are they honest to begin with, but if there is a problem, they will bend over backwards to make you happy, since they do not want negative feedback on their profile.

As far as bids go, I never do that. I just find the cheapest price that's not a bid, and buy it.

I've used eBay for hundreds of transactions as both buer and seller. Only 3 dud transactions ever.

The please bid email is to assist people who bid at an auction's end (highly recommended). I don't remember seeing fake bids, but starting amounts the seller hopes to get.

Yes, you can check bid activity for retracted and canceled bids. You probably will never see any, though if you do, think hard and research before bidding.

eBay is just fine....its the seller and buyers who are the problem.

You can click on bids and see if any had bid retractions. Chances are very low that all 5 did. Much more likely you did not know what you were doing.

Ebay is honest but any one seller may not be.

Ive gotten emails where someone cancelled their bid and I was left as the high bidder. That makes me wonder if any kind of games were being played. Usually not but its possible.

Highly unlikely on all 5 items.

See if this works...you can see all bidders and retractions if any.
